I had a post ready for this morning, but apparently we changed our plans to a different Sunday so I have to last minute post now.

Last night I had set up a guys night to chill and cookout with a buddy. We had a massive rainstorm come in and I had to clear space in my garage and grill from the opening. Good food, good company, and then we chainsawed some truly evil Bradford Pear trees down.

For anyone unaware Bradford Pears are illegal to plant in most states. They are highly invasive with pretty flowers that smell awful. Their flowers are so rancid that the trees deter bee populations while attracting flies which act as their pollinators.

Several states even have bounty programs, for example in South Carolina, Clemson University will give you a new tree for each one that you drop.

Here’s a fun little history article from Harvard about them: History of Bradford Pears
