Obviously this picture is of a new lawn mower, but it’s the same model I own. I bought this used from a very good friend whose wife was cutting almost 10 acres a week with it before she upgraded to a much more farm appropriate mower.

So far I’m heading into my 3rd season of using it and I’ve run into a few issues. The first was last year when my deck stripped off a blade and I had to have the entire deck repaired. Then this year the tires have dry rotted and need to be replaced. They won’t hold any air. I’ve also been having issues starting it.

That last one is on me, I can change spark plugs and oil, I just haven’t had the time. Regardless I need the tires replaced. It looks like fix a flat or something was put into the tires previously so the stems will need replaced as well. Which is why one of the local mower repair places is picking it up today. A full “Spring” refresh is going to run about $1,000 with the tires. Blades, filters, oil, spark plugs, tires, cleaning, everything.

Hopefully after this I’ll be able to run for a long while with minimal maintenance. I think I’m still at less than the cost of buying new even after all this.
