Last week, I posted a scathing critique of the requirements for Google AdSense. It was one of two articles that really pushed me above the 800 word count limits. This allowed me to resubmit my application and gain approval. A few days later the automated AdSense ads populated my website.
Now, no one likes to look at ads, but let’s be realistic. This is a blog about growing passive income. Ads are passive income. Google Ads don’t serve up X rated material on to pages like some other higher paying ad services. I know my comment sections and contact pages are not frequently utilized, but I really would appreciate feedback on the ad placements. If you find an ad covering the text or making the site unusable, please let me know. My goal is a better experience, not just a nine-cent payday.
The current location is “optimized” by Google Site Kit to be “unintrusive,” and “placed effectively.” As you can see over 7 days of ads, I have generated $0.18. So thank you friendly neighborhood heroes for visiting my website. As we discussed in Building a Website the annual website cost of hosting is $64.37 cents, with my domain name coming in at $12.00. If the ads pay for the hosting, the website becomes a ‘free’ asset in this snowball journey.
It’s also relevant to point out that anything under $100 can’t be paid out, so maybe my costs will take a little longer to get paid.
If even 1 person uses my Bluehost (website host) affiliate link. My Site costs for the year will be paid, and they get their website at $2 per month vs my $5 per month.
Does this make me a shill? I don’t think so. If the goal is a self sustaining snowball of investments, then every penny of passive income – even from ads – is a tool toward Financial Freedom.
