I’m around the 90 day mark of posting daily on this blog. While I frequently discuss discipline, I can clearly see that my quality posts are much better than daily posts.
The issue is I haven’t gone viral, I haven’t reached 100,000 visitors a day so I clearly can’t dial it back. I am enjoying the #buildinpublic stuff. It is motivating to me to continue forcing myself to buy 1 share of something each day no matter what. This is very clearly working as I intended.
For example, of my solidified 15 fund plan the current target purchase is OXSQ. This stock produces a $0.035 dividend per month and its average price is in the $1.80-$1.90 range. Last month it produced $6.65 which was about 190 shares. Since 2026 started this stock has paid me $18.97. However, since the article I just linked was posted and this stock was made my priority purchase I’ve purchased 737 more shares. The ex-date, the date you have to own a share to get the dividend, was April 16th with the payout being April 30th. Currently 30 of those shares were added after April 16th so let’s say our payable shares this month are 897 shares.
That means in April OXSQ will pay me $31.39 in dividends. That’s almost double the first three months combined. However, this did cost me $1,660 to buy those 927 shares. Currently my shares are up $91 in principal value since purchase.
In the mean time, I’ve paid off thousands in medical debt, added thousands in shed debt and somehow all my “bonus money” from these dividends and side hustles is just fueling more investments.
It feels backwards sometimes, like I should be shoveling every single penny toward debt and investing nothing, but I did that for years. Currently my portfolio is growing, it’s paying me, and that is the goal. Passive income. Hopefully this blog, YouTube, Spotify, and X will do the same at some point, but for now. I keep my head to the grindstone.
